Perhaps you are like me…I love what this profession has done for me. And I am not a "professional" network marketer by trade. In fact, I was extremely skeptical and cynical about Network Marketing and Nerium in general when I was first exposed to it.
I grew up being told that I had to go to college, get an education so that I could go work for a good company, earn a good living, and that would be the extent of my professional career. Little did I know, and I blame those who perpetuate that cycle, that it's those of us who go out and into business for ourselves are the ones who achieve the level of success that most only dream of and they have no understanding of how to achieve it.
I was not looking for THIS type of opportunity when Nerium came across my path. My friend Erin Adams (National Marketing Director) who was running her own preschool, was a photographer on weekends and had 4 kids of her own, was the one who showed my wife and I the Nerium Product and Opportunity. My initial response was, “I have sensitive skin and I don't want it to breakout. I am only 32 years old and I don't know anyone who will want to buy this product. I'm not good at recruiting people. And, no one ever makes money from these businesses, only the people at the top."
I was downright skeptical…until I started gathering the facts.
The fact that Jeff Olson, author and personal development speaker is leading this company. The fact that anti-aging is an $80 Billion industry in the United States alone growing at $1Billion per month. The fact that there is a HUGE barrier of entry with a patented product and extraction process. The fact that Nerium Sales in 2012 were $100 Million with one product in one country.
I was impressed. Sometimes you just don’t know, until you know.
Then came my shove into the industry and into the opportunity.
I was the department manager for a golf retail chain. Over the course of 2.5 years I had assembled, trained and developed a great sales, fitting and services staff. In that time period we grew store sales from $6.5 Million per year to $10 Million. For which the 2 store managers during that time received awards, bonuses, etc. What was our reward or bonus? I personally received a $.45 cent per hour raise. I was now only making $32k per year (before taxes) for running the highest improved store in the company. The store with the largest sales percentage increase.
However, the profit hungry executives at the top of my company came in and told me that they wanted to reduce the number of full-time employees in my department and hire twice as many part-time. That they wanted to reduce the hourly wage from $11hr to $9.50hr. All of this in an effort to save on payroll, their "controllable" factor in business. When I told them our sales quotas could not continue with inexperienced, untrained and unmotivated staff and that my current staff and myself were underpaid and undervalued... I was FIRED!

After my experience with Corporate America and the heartless, profit driven overpaid executives, the Network Marketing industry where my hard work, dedication and loyalty would be rewarded looked like land must have looked to a shipwrecked sailor.
